Calvin & Hobbes Love You!

Awwww. Returning from the beach this morning, I was thinking about everything in the whole world, like most days. As much garbage news and as many mean-spirited people as there in this joint, there really are some truly lovely ones. Like the person behind the "Someone loves you" street art. This morning they struck again, and there was a new one featuring Calvin & Hobbes letting everyone know that they are loved.

I'm sorry that I don't know who the artist is to properly credit them (let me know if you do!), but I want them to know it's appreciated, and almost always seen when it's really needed.

Thank you to them for this little day-maker there at the entrance to the Venice Canals. And just so they know ... someone loves them - and their work -  too. XOXO.

Thanks For Sharing Your Heart

Sometimes just walking around town, you come across the sweetest things. I saw this little sign on a post on Electric Avenue, and my own heart was warmed. Hi, Thanks for sharing your heart.

I gather that it was first just a heart, and then someone came along and thanked them for it. I love this exchange between, I assume, strangers, and just that someone would take the time for either action.

Good job, humanity! Thank you for your hearts.

A Sea House In Venice

I was delighted to discover a new paint job on a house on North Venice Boulevard on my morning stroll. It made me feel like I was under water, and the fact that it had just finished raining only intensified that sensation.

I love it when people make beautiful and fun use of their spaces. It gives color and fun to a town that was meant to be about just that ... color, fun, beauty ... ART. This house also features owls all over it, like sea owls, giving it a wise edge above. Almost like a wink, that they get it too.

Others shouldn't be afraid to follow suit. Be creative. Express what you love. Make your house a landmark. Give strangers a smile. Make a day.

Thanks to these neighbors, for making mine.

Venice Sidewalk Advice

So I'm walking back from the beach down Venice Boulevard, lost in thought and enjoying the fresh, summery air. Already feeling grateful, I look down to see this stencil in the middle of the sidewalk:

I smiled to myself and felt happy. But if I was someone else, feeling something else, a little further along, there would be some good advice for anyone, at anytime:

Then, a short stroll along, just to make sure everyone knows the truth:

This made my day, in an unexpected and thoughtful way. Let this take you into the weekend, intent on making it a great one! Thanks to the author/artist ... I bet you've made more than a few people smile.
