We Are The Music Makers And We Are The Dreamers Of Dreams ...

I took a random route on my way to do some errands today, and when I went down Walgrove, there was this fanciful mural in the alley, there to surprise and delight you ... and also to remind you about what Venice has historically always meant.

"We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams" ... that classic line from Willie Wonka & The Chocolate Factory was never far from my mind when I thought about Venice before I moved here, and what I strive to keep it about as I have lived here the past two decades+. There it was, painted in an alley, with unicorns and happy faces dancing around it, and the further verses (really from the poem Ode by Arthur O'Shaughnessy) that say, "We are the movers and shakers, Of the world forever it seems." We're founded by a dreamer that loved music. We're as far west as you can go. We're still making music. We're still dreaming dreams. We're still moving. We're still shaking.  Home. With all that we're losing as a community, let us never lose that sense of fun and whimsy that still swirls around ... you just might have to look a little harder for it.

Happy Weekend, Dreamers!
